Using manual therapy, Cupping and massage we help eliminate muscle pain, we promote faster healing from injuries and return the body to a healthy, balanced position necessary for its proper function.
The muscle pain cycle
When a muscle is injured - because of a contusion, overstretching, overexertion or because it was lacking proper blood flow due to poor posture - pain signals are sent to the central nervous system which reacts by contracting the muscle. This is called protective spasm and is normally followed by an inflammation process trying to repair the damage. Because the muscle is in spasm, proper blood flow, i.e. the exchange of oxygen and the elimination of metabolic waste, is slowed or impaired, thus slowing or stopping the recovery process.
The lack of oxygen and the accumulation of waste in the muscle irritates its nerve endings, which respond by firing nervous signals that the brain interprets as pain. Because the muscle is signaling pain, the nervous system responds by contracting the muscle even more. This restarts and intensifies the whole process. That's why a relatively small injury can become a major problem in just a few hours or days!
