The importance of proper muscle balance (cont).
Lack of muscle balance also affects our breathing and our blood circulation. "Carrying our shoulders on our ears", a very common side effect of stress, it's a common trigger of headaches. It also puts pressure on the Brachial nerve complex and could result in numb, tingly fingers that over time may lead to irreparable damage to the nerves. This is known as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
Over-tight muscles in the gluteal area can put pressure on the sciatic nerve, which results in deep lower back pain, burning, tingling, and/or numbness sensations in the legs. This is commonly known as Sciatica.
Hypertoned hip and leg muscles affect the way we walk and eventually can produce lower back and knee pain. They affect our pelvis and create a number of problems. It can even cause genital dysfunction when arteries are unable to provide proper blood flow because of impingment.
By using postural analysis and orthopedic massage techniques, we help restore balance to the body. We relax the muscles that are contracted, help the muscles that are overstretched to regain strength and proper positioning. We help bone structures to return to a healthy position, promote strength, proper blood circulation, and breathing.
